2024-2025 EXECUTIVE BOARD 

 

  1. PRESIDENT (president@cvhspto.org): Gauri Semlani

    I am originally from India and have lived in Houston for a long time. I have a Freshman and a Senior at Carnegie Vanguard High School.​

    ​

    I have served as the VP of Membership & Volunteers for the past 2 years and It is with great honor that I stand before you today as a nominee for the position of PTO President. ​

    ​

    As a parent myself, I understand the importance of a strong and supportive PTO in enriching the educational experience of our children. Over the past few years, I've witnessed the incredible dedication and passion of our PTO Board in organizing events, fundraising, and advocating for the needs of our students and teachers.​

    ​

    I pledge to continue this tradition of excellence and to work tirelessly to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all parents. Together, we will strive to enhance communication, promote parental involvement, and support our school's initiatives.​

    I am excited about the opportunity to serve as your PTO President and humbly ask for your support in this endeavor.​

  2. VP-1 FUNDRAISING & DEVELOPMENT VP (fundraising@cvhspto.org): Alison ADGER

    Hello parents, I am a native Houstonian and a proud mama to a flourishing 10th Grader at Carnegie Vanguard High School. ​

    ​

    I have served as the VP of Fundraising for CVHS PTO 2023 – 2024 and am honored to be nominated to serve again for the 2024 – 2025 school year. ​

    ​

    We had a very productive year and I have some additional plans to make 2025 even better. This very generous parent organization makes my job easy. Thank you for rising to the challenge every time !​

  3. VP-2 COMMUNICATIONS & IT, VP (communications@cvhspto.org): Sowmmya Balakrishnan

    I am originally from India but have lived in Houston a long time. I have a freshman at Carnegie Vanguard High School and am looking forward to 3 more exciting years. ​

    ​

    I have served as the Chair of the communications committee for CVHS PTO 2023 – 2024 and am honored to be nominated to serve on the board for the 2024 – 2025 school year. ​

    ​

    We have made some fundamental changes to the technical ecosphere of CVHS PTO this year. In the next school year, I hope to continue the work of simplifying our technical environment.​

  4. VP-3 VOLUNTEERS & MEMBERSHIP VP (volunteers@cvhspto.org): Mary Mathias

    I am a proud parent of a Junior and a Freshman at Carnegie Vanguard High School. ​

    ​

    I am passionate about serving CVHS community that does so much for our students every single day. ​

    ​

    Previously, I have served as the VP of IT & communications for CVHS PTO 2022 – 2023 & Webmaster during 2021-2022 and am honored to be nominated to serve on the board for the 2024 – 2025 school year. ​

    ​

    I eagerly looking forward to serve the CVHS PTO community by fostering robust engagement with parents.​

  5. VP-4 SPECIAL EVENTS & PROGRAMS VP (specialevents@cvhspto.org): Vaibhavi Shanbhogue

    Hello parents, I am originally from India and have lived across several states in America before moving to Houston. I have a Sophomore at Carnegie Vanguard High School.​

    I have served as the Treasurer for CVHS PTO 2023 – 2024 and am honored to be nominated to serve on the board for the 2024 – 2025 school year. ​

    ​

    I like many of you enjoy a good social event and hope to lead the way in making memories to last a lifetime for CVHS parents and students. ​

  6. PARLIAMENTARIAN (parliamentarian@cvhspto.org): Bogar Ventura

    Good evening, Carnegie family, I’m originally from El Paso, TX and have lived in Houston since 1997. I acquired a degree in Microbiology from Texas A&M University and I have been a Chiropractor for over 20 years.​

    ​

    My daughter Julia Ines Ventura is a Freshman at Carnegie Vanguard High School and I am looking forward to 3 more years at this wonderful school. ​

    ​

    I have served as the Treasurer Elect for CVHS PTO 2023 – 2024 and am honored to be nominated to serve on the board for the 2024 – 2025 school year.​

    ​

    I have served on many Boards, including being President and Vice President at Wharton Dual Language Academy and Young Woman’s College Preparatory Academy. As Parliamentarian, I will make sure to perform my duties to the best of my ability but most importantly to advise our future President on PTO business.​

  7. SECRETARY (secretary@cvhspto.org): Yasi Lotfi 

    Hello Parents, I am originally from Iran and have lived in Houston for a long time. I have a Sophomore at Carnegie Vanguard High School that wasn’t sure he wanted to be here but now I couldn’t pay him to leave. We love the school and especially the community.​

    I have served as the Secretary for CVHS PTO 2023 – 2024 and am honored to be nominated to serve on the board for the 2024 – 2025 school year. ​

    ​

    Being on the board of this organization has allowed me to be part of my son’s high school journey. I hope to support the PTO in all the fun and exciting things yet to come in the next school year.​

  8. TREASURER (treasurer@cvhspto.org): Mala Gupta

    I am originally from India and have lived in Houston for more than 20 years. I have a Sophomore and a Senior at Carnegie Vanguard High School.​

    ​

    I have served as the Treasurer 2020-21, 2021–22 and most recently as Parliamentarian for CVHS PTO 2023 – 2024 and am honored to be nominated to continue the board for the 2024 – 2025 school year. ​

    ​

    I recently completed a Rice University Class on Non-Profit Accounting and am thrilled to be able to use my skills for this amazing community.​

  9. TREASURER-ELECT (Treasurer.Elect@cvhspto.org): Kelli Fereday 

    I am an original Houstonian and have a 19yr old working towards an Architecture Degree at UH and a 16yr old Junior at Carnegie Vanguard High School. ​

    ​

    I have served on the annual fundraising committee for 2 years as the lead Auctioneer and am honored to be nominated to the board for the 2024 – 2025 school year. ​

    ​

    I have 30 years of Engineering Leadership experience in Oil & Gas and appreciate the importance of a well-built plan and a balanced budget. I hope to assist the Treasurer in their role in any way I can.​

  10. PAST PRESIDENT (past.president@cvhspto.org): Maria CASTRO Calzada 

    I am a proud first-generation daughter of South American immigrants. My mother hails from Chile, and my father from Argentina, but I was the first in my family to be born in the US, right in the Bronx. I've spent most of my life in Spring or Houston, TX, except for my time at UT Austin for undergrad and PA School in Ft. Worth.

     

    One of my two children has been a student at CVHS for the last 7 years. Perrin Alejandro graduated from Carnegie Vanguard High School in 2022 and is now a rising Junior in the Honors College at UH-Cullen College of Engineering, majoring in Computer Engineering.

     

    My other child, Aviendha Rosa, is a current Rhino at CVHS, a rising Junior in the Class of 2026. She's involved in XC and Track and has a great passion for Art.

     

    I've proudly served as PTO President for the last 2 years, from 2022 to 2024. Prior to that, I was VP of Communications and IT for over 2 years, from 2020 to 2022. Also, before joining the Board in 2020, I chaired the Senior Scholarship Committee, which continues to be a passion project for me year after year. With my breadth of experience, I am delighted to support my fellow Board Members and parents of the Class of 2026 in my newest role and Board Position, Past President.
