Eligibility Criteria:​

This scholarship is open to all seniors and is not based on financial need or GPA—everyone is encouraged to apply!​

​

1) Must be a Current CVHS graduating senior​

2) Must submit a completed application by the deadline.​

Application Requirements: 
 
Kindly upload your resume and essay, select one of the following prompts to craft your essay (at least 200 words). Your response will help us identify the recipients that will move to the next stage of the scholarship process. 
 
These prompts aim to elicit authentic, thoughtful, and engaging essays, allowing students to showcase their individuality, creativity, and aspirations. 
 
  1. "What experience or challenge has shaped your perspective the most, and how has it influenced your goals?" 
  2. "What problem in the world today are you most passionate about solving, and what steps will you take to address it?" 
  3. “Can you please tell us how Carnegie has shaped you as a person, and how you’ve contributed?” 
 
Scoring Criteria & Selection Process:
  1. Application Review: The PTO Scholarship Committee will review all applications to ensure eligibility and completeness. 
  2. Scoring: Each application will be scored based on the selection criteria. 
  3. Interviews: Shortlisted candidates may be invited for a short interview with the committee. 
  4. Final Selection: Ten recipients will be chosen based on total scores. 
  5. Announcement: Winners will be announced during the senior awards ceremony.

Volunteering(only Parents) 

 

Its a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference! Here are the key points for volunteering with the Senior Scholarship committee:

  • Eligibility: NO 2024-25 senior student parents. Freshman, Sophomore or Junior Parents only
  • No Experience Needed: Anyone can volunteer.
  • Requirements:
    • Time commitment and willingness to help.
    • All applications are electronic/online, so you can work from home or office.
    • Score and rank applications based on the Scholarship Committee Scoring rubric.
    • Applications are anonymous to ensure objectivity.
    • Senior parents are excluded from judging.
    • Report any conflicts of interest to the committee chair.
    • Review the volunteer confidentiality statement.
  • Final Interview Panel: Only volunteers who review applications can move to this stage.
