Student Absences

Students must submit a note for every absence within three (3) days of their return to school. A student leaving school early must submit a note to excuse their absence from the classes missed that day.

Parents, please be aware that picking a student up from school early and signing them out does NOT give the student an excused absence. A parent note must be submitted for all unofficial absences, and students leaving for medical or legal purposes must submit official documentation from the medical, government, or legal office upon their return.

If a student goes to a medical office (Doctor, Dentist, or Therapist), court, or a government office (DPS, Social Security, or Immigration Office) and still attends school on the same day, the student will receive an Official code which does not count against their attendance.

  • ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES

    Early Departure Policy – Students WILL NOT be called out/dismissed from class after 3:30 p.m. Due to Covid restrictions on the building, parents are asked to scan the QR Code (located in the window next to the door) to complete the early release form and upload a picture of the parent's identification or driver's license. Please DO NOT send an email to the front desk or scan the QR code in advance. The parent should call the front office if the student has not arrived at their vehicle within 10 minutes after submitting the information. Please allow extra time for the student to be called from class and navigate through the building to your vehicle. Please plan accordingly to make it to the appointments on time. Within 3 days of the student's return, submit a note from a parent or doctor's office to the front desk. Attendance records will be corrected within 2 days.

For Student Drivers:

Parents are to send an email with the student's full name, student identification number, date and time, and a picture of the parent's driver's license to the following emails: Claudia Alvarenga calvaren@houstonisd.org and/or Ruben Hermosillo ruben.hermosillo@houstonisd.org. Students will not be dismissed after 3:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly to avoid delays.
