Stephanie Chen

The PTO wanted to share some news with you.

Our amazing teacher, Ms. Stephanie Chen, is currently fighting cancer and undergoing treatment. It's a tough time for her and her family, but we know how many of you want to help show Ms. Chen our love and support in many ways.

One way is by providing ready-to-eat (freezable/reheatable) meals that can make life a little easier for this busy mom.

We're looking for volunteers who can prepare or purchase meals (only meals that can be frozen, please) and send them to the school for Ms Chen.

Every little bit counts, so even if you can only contribute a small amount, it can make a huge difference in her life as she focuses on healing and recovery. And don't worry about how many containers you can drop off per day, as we have a big freezer at the school to store them for Ms. Chen.

Even though there are dates on the sign-up app, please don't hesitate to make a large batch of your family's favorite recipe or your local restaurant's best dish! (Psst, I heard that Italian wedding soup is her favorite!) Fill up several containers, and let's show her how much we care!

The plan is as easy as 1-2-3...

  1. The PTO will provide freezer-safe disposable containers for meal donations to minimize infection risk and make storage and delivery as simple as possible. Students or parents can stop by the front office to pick up NEW EMPTY CONTAINERS to take home.
  2. Make or purchase restaurant-made food at home, then transfer food into the 16-0z containers and label the outside with a Sharpie or use a label (Please DATE made and name of FOOD ITEM).
  3. Meals in the containers can be dropped off at any time during school hours, and the school will keep them safely stored and frozen until Ms. Chen's family gets them. If you can lend a hand and cook / purchase a meal for Ms Chen, please sign up using the link below.

• About 10 - 16oz containers of frozen food containers per week would be ideally appreciated, but any amount and frequency are welcome.

• Prefer to be packed in disposable containers that don't need to be returned. The PTO has purchased containers that can be picked up from the school front office.

• High-calorie, high-protein, rich, and flavorful meals are preferred due to reduced sense of taste. And need to gain weight and strength.

• Meals can include soups, curries, rice, pasta, and other soft dishes; Ground, shredded, and fall-off-the-bone meats are good as long as they don't require more than a few bites of chewing.

• Veggies should be soft enough to squish with fingers.

• Ms. Chen only dislikes coconut - so it should be avoided.

• Spicy and crunchy foods should also be avoided.

***If you wish to participate without signing up, that is OK. Please follow the instructions provided on this page.

Although signing up is not mandatory, it will help us to anticipate the required supply and space. The Chen Family will also have a clear idea of who is on the donation list and what meals to expect.

We are grateful for any support you can provide and look forward to making this event a success together!

Thanks - CVHS PTO
